3/9/2025 7:46:00 PM

Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The No. 2 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team dropped its second match of the 2nd Annual Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase in a 4-1 loss to No. 25 Catawba on Sunday.

The Nighthawks (7-4, 1-0 Peach Belt) will look to rebound from the loss to the Indians (8-0, 3-0 South Atlantic) with their third match in the showcase on Monday, March 10 against Lees-McRae at the Champions Club Tennis Complex at Rivermont Park.

Sunday's match started off on the wrong foot for UNG as Catawba took the doubles point with a pair of close 7-5 wins in the #1 and #2 doubles contest to squeak by the Nighthawks.

In singles, only freshman Linn Goerdes was able to come away with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in #4 singles as she earned the lone point of the day for UNG.

The Indians pulled away in the match with wins in the #3, #5 and #6 singles competitions to hand the Nighthawks their second consecutive loss.

UNG's chance at redemption against Lees-McRae gets started in Chattanooga at 4 p.m. on Monday.
