DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia's Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Columbus State on Wednesday, Dec. 10 is billed as a Throwback Game and will be played in historic Memorial Hall marking the first basketball games in the building since February of 2018.
The women's game is set to start at 5:30 p.m. with the men's tipoff slated for 8:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance of the game and should arrive early to guarantee a seat as a near capacity crowd is expected.
Fans will be directed to park in Lot 16 (Church Street Lot) located directly behind Memorial Hall. Overflow parking will be in Lot 14 (North Parking Deck) which is accessible through the campus' Church Street entrance.
Throughout the evening, UNG will celebrate the rich heritage and alumni of its basketball programs, highlighting milestone moments through the programs' history in Memorial Hall.
Both UNG teams will wear retro replica uniforms inspired from the 1980s and shooting shirts featuring the vintage Saints logo.
Commemorative event t-shirts with the Saints mascot will be available for purchase (limited quantities and sizes) and in-game elements will feature a nostalgic look inspired by pre-2000s North Georgia basketball.
The old Saints mascot will be on hand and a live Saint Bernard mascot will add to the nostalgia of the old days in Memorial Hall.
Additionally, Public Safety officers on site will be wearing retro style uniforms.
Nighthawk Athletic Club members and current basketball season ticket holders will be admitted using their existing credentials. Both games will stream live on the Nighthawk Sports Network.
The last intercollegiate games in Memorial Hall took place on Feb. 18, 2018, when more than 1,300 fans packed the stands for Spirit Night as the Nighthawks split a doubleheader with Clayton State. The following week, the UNG women's team christened the new UNG Convocation Center with a 105-52 victory over Georgia Southwestern.
