DAHLONEGA - The No. 17 University of North Georgia (UNG) rifle team turned in a strong performance on its home range Saturday, placing second to fourth-ranked Georgia Southern in a head-to-head matchup at the Col. Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range.

The Nighthawks posted an aggregate score of 4,645, highlighted by 2,334 in air rifle and 2,311 in smallbore, while the Eagles claimed the top spot with a meet-best 4,724 points

Bri Walter led North Georgia with an overall 1,167 aggregate, finishing eighth among all competitors. Walter fired 579 in smallbore and 588 in air rifle, pacing UNG in both disciplines.
Maya Cameron followed closely with 1,162 aggregate (582 smallbore, 580 air rifle), while
Corbin Jockers (1,159) and
Ian Lyons (1,156) rounded out the Nighthawks' top-four counters.
Alison Sutherlin added a strong 588 in air rifle, tying Walter for UNG's best mark on the line

In smallbore, Cameron placed fourth overall (582), and Walter ranked sixth (579), leading a balanced Nighthawk lineup that included Jockers (577), Lyons (573) and
Courtney Allison (565).
The air rifle squad showed similar consistency as Walter, Sutherlin and Lyons all shot within five points of each other, and seven Nighthawks surpassed the 580-point mark.

Georgia Southern swept the top seven individual spots, led by Emma Pohlmann, who captured top honors with an 1,189 aggregate (591 smallbore, 598 air rifle). The Eagles' lineup featured five shooters over 1,170, powering the visitors to victory.

North Georgia returns to action Nov. 14-15 when they will travel to Morganton, W.V. for the West Virginia Fall Classic where they will shoot against Wofford and No. 3 West Virginia.
