LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 18 University of North Georgia (UNG) rifle team opened its season with a Southern Conference victory over the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) rifle teams on Saturday at VMI's Kilbourne Hall.
Courtney Allison and
Corbin Jockers tied for top aggregate honors with matching 1163 scores. Jockers was the event's top smallbore scorer with a 580 while Allison posted top honors in the air rifle discipline with a 590.
Bri Walter (1161) and
Maya Cameron (1156) finished third and fourth respectively for the Nighthawks.
North Georgia posted the top four scores in smallbore and top three results in air rifle. Five Nighthawks also earned new or tied personal records – Jockers (smallbore), Allison (air rifle),
Abby Swain (air rifle),
Ian Lyons (air rifle) and
Ethan Bates (air rifle).
UNG returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 12 with a road trip to fifth-ranked Georgia Southern.
