MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 18 University of North Georgia (UNG) rifle team posted its best aggregate of the season fueled by a school record smallbore score (2311) on Saturday to defeat No. 20 Alabama Birmingham (UAB), 4662-4652.

The Nighthawks used a balanced effort across both disciplines, recording 2,311 in smallbore and 2,351 in air rifle to edge past Alabama Birmingham by 10 points in the overall standings.

Brianna Walter paced North Georgia with a combined 1,168 aggregate, finishing second overall and third in air rifle after firing a 590 in the event.
Abby Swain was close behind at 1,167, highlighted by a 593 in air rifle that ranked second among all competitors and marked a new personal record.

Ian Lyons (1,163) and
Maya Cameron (1,160) rounded out the top-five finishers for the Nighthawks, while
Corbin Jockers (1,153) and
Courtney Allison (1,145) provided additional scoring depth.

Cameron and Lyons also stood out in smallbore, posting scores of 579 and 580, respectively, to place among the top-five individual performers in that discipline. Walter and Swain followed closely with marks of 578 and 574.
Lyons' smallbore mark set a new personal best.Â

North Georgia's team depth proved decisive, as six Nighthawks posted scores above 1,140 in the aggregate. The team's 251 center-shots were the highest of the competition.

The Nighthawks will return to action Nov. 8 when they host Georgia State in the team's lone home competition of the season at the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range.
