BEAUFORT, S.C. - The No. 24 University of North Georgia men's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of the Golfweek Fripp Island to Bermuda Invitational on Tuesday, sitting in 12th place in the stacked 15-team field. The Nighthawks posted a 36-hole team score of 593 (+17), following up a first-round 304 with a much-improved second-round 289.

No. 10 Georgia Southwestern leads with a total score of 565 (-11). No. 2 Lee University is a close second at 566 (-10) and No. 14 Columbus State sits in third place at 573 (-3).

Rhett Smith paced the Nighthawks, finishing in a tie for 14th place. Smith carded an even-par 144 (74-70) through 36 holes.

Grant Langford also delivered a strong performance, tying for 19th place overall with a score of 73-72--145 (+1).

Rounding out the scores for North Georgia is
Hunter Smith at eight-over 152 (78-74),
Colby Bennett at nine-over 153 (80-73) and
Drew Sutherland at 12-over 156 (79-77).

Oscar Hammar of Georgia Southwestern leads individually at eight-under 136 (67-69). Harry Dickens from Lincoln Memorial is second at six-under 138 (68-70) and Bernard Meyer of Columbus State sits in third at four-under 140 (70-70). The individual champion earns an exemption into the PGA TOUR's Butterfield Bermuda Championship in mid-November, believed to be a first at the NCAA Division II level.
