DAHLONEGA – Due to projected inclement weather conditions in the Dahlonega area, the University of North Georgia has adjusted its scheduled baseball game with Columbus State.

The Nighthawks were originally slated to face the Cougars Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend from. However, the conference-opening series has been shifted to reflect a a double header to be played on Saturday Mar. 2 with game one beginning at 1 p.m. and game two following at approximately 4 p.m. Sunday's final game of the series will remain as scheduled for 1 p.m. from Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park. 

UNG's series this weekend will serve as its first in Peach Belt play this year after competing in a three-game non-conference series at Georgia College & State University last weekend. In Milledgeville last weekend, the Nighthawks dropped two of three games, winning Saturday's middle game of the series 4-3. The series marked the first road test of the year for head coach Tom Cantrell's squad. UNG currently sits at 9-3 on the season after starting the year 8-1. 

Meanwhile, Columbus State enters Dahlonega after starting its season 3-7 in the first 10 games. However, the Cougars are 6-0 since then having picked up a ranked win against No. 16 Young Harris, a series sweep over No. 25 Quincy and a pair of wins over West Florida.  CSU has not traveled on the road since the opening weekend of the season when it went 2-1 against Eckerd College. Saturday's Peach Belt opener will be the Cougars' first road game in 29 days. 

All games in the Nighthawks' home series will be broadcast live on the Nighthawk Sports Network.
