AUGUSTA, Ga. - Frank Champion scored a game-high 21 points to help lead the No. 10 University of North Georgia men's basketball team past Augusta 80-66 on the road Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference play.

Champion added six rebounds and three assists to his 21-point game to lead the Nighthawks (16-2, 7-1 Peach Belt). Cayden Charles chipped in with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds while Eric Jones added 12 points.

After falling behind 33-31, North Georgia went on a 6-0 run with 4:08 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Champion, to take a 37-33 lead. The Nighthawks would enter halftime with a 40-37 advantage.

North Georgia would stay in front and eventually ice the game with an 11-0 run to grow the lead to 75-61 with 3:50 to go in the contest.

Demitri Gardner and David Viti led Augusta (9-9, 2-6 Peach Belt) with 16 points each.
The Nighthawks' road win in Christenberry Field House was the first since an 87-83 win on Jan. 7, 2015.
North Georgia caps the two-game road stretch on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at No. 18 USC Aiken.
