MURRAY, Ky. – The No. 17 University of North Georgia rifle team matched its season high aggregate score in a 4657-4586 win over No. 20 Alabama Birmingham at the Murray State's Withrow Invitational on Friday.
The Nighthawks have scored a school record aggregate 4657 in consecutive victories and are now victorious in four of their last five matches.
UNG's smallbore score of 2304 also sets a new school record and was fueled by a personal record 581 from
Alysa Yancey.
Elysa Walter was the top performer in the discipline with a 587 that was highlighted by consecutive scores of 99 in the prone position.
In air rifle, Walter led the way with a 594 anchored by two 100 strings while teammates
Maya Cameron and
Jaden-Ann Fraser each scored 589 respectively as both shooters posted 100's in their final strings.
The match also counted as part of the SoCon regular season with North Georgia improving to 3-0 in conference matches.
North Georgia continues the weekend road trip on Sunday, Jan. 21 with a neutral site competition against No. 16 Army in Morgantown, W.V.
