SUMTER, S.C. — University of North Georgia women's tennis players Angelina Linnikova and Johanna Lippert ended their ITA Women's Southeast Regional runs on Monday (Sept. 25) at Palmetto Tennis Center.

Linnikova earned a win in the semifinals before falling in a hard-fought two-set loss to top-seeded Nadja Meier of Flagler. In the semifinals, Linnikova defeated second-seeded Eva Siska 6-4, 6-2 before the 6-4, 6-3 loss to Meier. 

Lippert completed her run at the event with a semifinal loss to Meier in the early matches, falling 6-1, 6-1. The two became the first pair of North Georgia women's tennis players to appear in the semifinal together at the ITA Women's Southeast Regional.

The Nighthawks will build off the momentum and head to Young Harris, Ga., for the Young Harris Invitational on Sept. 30. The invitational will be the second of three events in the fall schedule.
