Joaquin Benoit's run ended in the Round of 16 at the ITA Southeast Regional, taking a victory in singles on Saturday (Sept. 23) before falling in the following round at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
Benoit picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Zak Vince of Belmont Abbey, earning a convincing win in singles in the Round of 32, but following the win over Vince, Benoit came up short in a tight battle against JacopoDenitto of Flagler.
Denitto took the first set 6-2 before Benoit answered with a 6-2 result in the second set to even the score and head to the deciding third set. Denitto got into a rhythm in the final set, taking a 6-0 result to advance to the quarterfinals.
Benoit ends his run at the ITA Southeast Regional, earning a spot in the top 16 for the second straight year after playing in the championship match last season.
