COLUMBUS, Ga. – University of North Georgia men's golfer Will Chambless finished in a tie for seventh at the 94th Southeastern Amateur, in the hunt around some of the best golfers from the region. The leaderboard featured players from around the country including USC, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Auburn, Virginia Tech and many more as UNG's Chambless battled towards the top of a loaded field.

Chambless finished with an even-par 70 after the first round but picked up ground in the second round shooting a four-under-par 66. The third round ended with a one-under-par 69 giving the Dyas, Ga. native a three-round score of 205.

The five-under-par finish put Chambless one spot away from a top-five finish and just six shots back of the event's champion, Hunter Logan of Mississippi State, who finished as the lone golfer to break 200, finishing with a 199 after three rounds.

The Southeastern Amateur, originally named the Columbus Country Club Invitational, was created in 1922 by Fred Haskins, former Head Golf Professional at the Country Club of Columbus. The tournament was rebranded to the Southeastern Amateur in 1938. Over the years, the tournament has transformed into what it is today, a top-level amateur tournament that attracts the most notable players from around the world.

Among the winners in the history of the prestigious event are Gainesville, Ga. native and Masters champion Tommy Aaron (1973), along with a pair of runner-up finishes in the event by eventual Masters champions Ben Crenshaw (1984) and Fuzzy Zoeller (1979).
