DAHLONEGA – In a Battle of Blood Mountain victory, the No. 8 University of North Georgia women's tennis team defeated Young Harris 6-1 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park in Peach Belt Conference action. The Nighthawks took the doubles point before rolling to five victories in the singles portion of the day to secure their sixth straight victory over YHC.
Valentina Ascarrunz and
Ashley Moinard took the #3 doubles flight 6-0 before
Viktorie Wojcikova and
Johanna Lippert (6-4) as
Svetlana Teterina and
Angelina Linnikova (6-1) finished off the sweep in doubles.
Wojcikova took a straight-set victory in her #1 singles flight, taking a 6-4, 6-2 win as four more Nighthawks would take a straight-set win.
Anna Markvartova won 6-4, 6-1, and Linnikova finished out a decisive result of 6-6, 6-0 to secure the match victory. Moinard and Ascarrunz added another two wins for good measure, with Moinard battling to a 6-3, 7-5 result. Ascarrunz finished a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win to round out the Nighthawks' victory.

The Nighthawks will have a quick turnaround as they hit the road joining the men on Monday (Apr. 10) for a 1:00 p.m. showdown against North Greenville.
