DAHLONEGA, Ga. – University of North Georgia men's golfer Evan Thompson has been named the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week after his win at the Tennessee River Rumble. Thompson added his first tournament win of the season while bringing home the program's third consecutive Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week award. The performance helped lead the team to their third win of the season and the second in their last four tournaments.

Thompson won the event after shooting rounds of 70-66-70 to finish at 10-under-par 206 and helped the sixth-ranked Nighthawks to a six-stroke team victory in the 20-team field. Thompson picks up his first victory of the season, third top-five and sixth top-10 in eight events played. He is currently second in the PBC in stroke average and is ranked #5 in the Golfstat individual relative ranking. 

Thompson's second-round 66 is tied for the third-lowest round (relative to par) in the PBC this season and tied for the second-lowest on the team. His 54-hole 206 is also the second-lowest in the conference. 

The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dahlonega, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dahlonega restaurant. Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
