DAHLONEGA – University of North Georgia women's golfer Danielle Humphrey has been named the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week after going 3-0 at the Bracket Challenge, taking down the ninth and 109th-ranked golfer in NCAA Division II.

Humphrey started the tournament with a two-stroke victory over Emily Felix of Lee. The junior from Panama City, Fla., fell down one stroke after the first hole but quickly answered, tying it up on the third hole before taking the lead on the fourth. She added two more strokes in the final 14 holes to help UNG to the semifinals over the second-seeded Flames.

The highlight of the week was Humphrey's defeat of the ninth-ranked golfer in NCAA DII in Tove Brunell, taking another two-stroke victory and helping secure a spot in the championship match. Humphrey dropped down one stroke on the third hole but battled back, tying it up to open up the back-nine, putting the pressure back onto Brunell. Humphrey would get up to a four-stroke lead on the 12th hole and hold on to finish with the two-stroke victory.

Humphrey closed the week with North Georgia's lone win versus defending National Champions Findlay, taking a five-stroke win. It was a dominant effort to close out the event, grabbing a two-stroke lead on the second hole and leading throughout, adding three more strokes to her lead by the 18th hole.

Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
