Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – After resuming play from the original match scheduled for earlier this season, the No. 21 University of North Georgia men's tennis team ended its three-match losing skid against 26th-ranked Augusta, coming away with a 6-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over the Jaguars. After taking the doubles point, North Georgia cruised through the singles matches, dropping only one flight.
Joaquin Benoit and
Cole Brainard opened up the day, taking a 6-2 victory in doubles.
Giulio Sassi and
Eliseo Alcalde finished with a 6-3 victory to help the Nighthawks earn the 1-0 lead. All four Nighthawks would continue to roll as Benoit and Brainard earned straight-set victories in the first two flights before Augusta got their lone victory in the #3 flight.
Sassi and Alcade got the momentum rolling again, adding straight-set victories in their matches to clinch the victory. Alcalde persevered through a battle in his two sets, winning in the sixteenth tiebreaker in the first set before taking a 7-5 win in the second.
Robin Eldin added a win to the final score, winning in the tenth tiebreaker in his first set before taking the 6-2 victory in the second set.
