GREENWOOD, S.C. – The tenth-ranked University of North Georgia women's tennis team took its second Peach Belt Conference victory of the season, defeating Lander 6-1 on the road. The Nighthawks took the doubles point before continuing the momentum in the singles portion on their way to their ninth victory of the season.
Lander picked up the win in the #1 flight in singles, but the Nighthawks continued to pressure, taking the next five flights to close out the 6-1 win.
Ashley Moinard and
Johanna Lippert earned victories in both doubles and singles. Moinard paired up with
Valentina Ascarrunz for a 6-0 win, while Lippert paired with
Viktorie Wojcikova for a 6-2 win in doubles.
Anna Markvartova and
Svetlana Teterina took straight-set singles victories, with Markvartova earning a 6-1, 6-2 and Teterina taking a 7-6, 6-2 victory.
Next Up
The Nighthawks will host Flagler on Apr. 1 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park for a Peach Belt Conference matchup in their first home match since Feb. 18, ending a nine-match road trip.
