DAHLONEGA – In its final regular season game at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center, the University of North Georgia women's basketball team picked up a significant 61-56 Peach Belt Conference win over Augusta.
Niyah Lutz led the Nighthawks on Senior Night, scoring 22 points and grabbing eight rebounds to help give UNG the edge.
Caroline Martin finished second in points with 17, adding seven rebounds.
Kayla Massop bolstered the defense, grabbing nine rebounds and collecting two blocks and three steals.
The Nighthawks fell flat in the third quarter but answered with one of their best defensive quarters of the season in the fourth, allowing just five points to help give them the five-point victory.
North Georgia moves to 18-8 overall and 10-7 in Peach Belt Conference play after the victory, sitting one game behind second place with one game to go.
