DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia Athletic Department received over $116,000 in donations from 668 donors in its second annual Day of Giving - Together We Soar Campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
The top-ranked men's golf team led the way in most money raised with $18,430 while the women's golf team secured the most donors with 145. Donations came in from 29 different states and seven different countries with an average gift of $174.
Some team-specific initiatives and campaigns included softball's tiered challenges of $15 for the 2015 softball National Championship or $23 for the 2023 softball National Championship, baseball's $25 for 25 years of existence and men's basketball asking for $5 for a "high five."
Each of North Georgia's 13 athletics programs and department support units will benefit from the funds raised on the Together We Soar campaign. Student-athletes and coaches spent the day promoting the initiative on their social media channels, calling on family and friends from home and challenging one another to hit goals as a department.
The far and wide engagement from the UNG Athletics Day of Giving has displayed a commitment to the continuation of North Georgia Athletics as an elite Division II program.
