No. 17 North Georgia Earns Big Win Over No. 18 The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Another set of records were broken in the No. 17 University of North Georgia rifle team's 4657-4597 victory over No. 19 The Citadel. UNG set the school record for aggregate scoring, with a 4657 aggregate score, using another broken school record in air rifle, shooting 2360 to help catapult the Nighthawks to the record.

For North Georgia, Elysa Walter led the way, shooting an 1173 aggregate score to finish second overall and first on the team. Walter's 594 in air rifle was tops in the event and one of just three scores above 590. A 579 in smallbore was second in the event, trailing only James Hart IV of the Citadel in both smallbore and aggregate.

Maya Cameron followed Walter in scoring, finishing with an 1163 aggregate score after a 578 in smallbore and a 585 in air rifle. The Nighthawks had the second, third and fourth-best finishers after Courtney Allison's 1159 aggregate score, shooting a personal best in both smallbore (569) and air rifle (590).

Madison Kennedy finished sixth in the event, shooting an aggregate score of 1146 after an air rifle score of 575 with a smallbore score of 571. Corbin Jockers earned a personal best of 569 in smallbore, logging an 1129 aggregate score after shooting 563 in smallbore.

Jaden-Ann Fraser and Alysa Yancey finished with 588 in air rifle, a personal best score for Yancey. Next for UNG is an appearance at the Withrow Invitational in Murray, Ky., facing UAB on Friday (Jan. 19).
