Softball Players Earn All-Region Honors

DAHLONEGA - University of North Georgia softball players Haley Cummings, Kristen Davis and Jolie Lester each earned All-Region accolades from both the NFCA and the D2CCA this week. All three were named second team by the NFCA, while Lester and Cummings were first team honorees by the D2CCA.

Cummings, a freshman from Suwanee, Georgia, has hit .380 this season with nine doubles, eight homers and 45 RBI. She also sports the highest slugging percentage at .636. She was named to the Peach Belt All-Conference First Team earlier this season.

Davis, a sophomore from Calhoun, Georgia, is 15-4 with a 2.97 ERA. She pitched 127.1 innings with 98 strikeouts and held batters to a .231 batting average. She was tabbed the Peach Belt's co-Pitcher of the Year and earned first team All-Conference accolades.

Lester, a freshman from Fayetteville, Georgia, is second on the team in batting average at .380, including hitting .419 in conference play. She also earned a first team All-Conference nod last week.

The Nighthawks are in the Southeast Regional this week at Lenoir-Rhyne as the No. 3 seed.
