No. 3 Women's Basketball Extends Winning Streak to 10 in 74-52 Win Over USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. - The No. 3 University of North Georgia women's basketball team stretched their winning streak to 10 as they took down USC Aiken Saturday afternoon, 74-52.

After nearly 2:30 ticked off the clock, North Georgia finally scored the first basket of the game, jumpstarting a 7-0 run that gave UNG the lead for good. USC Aiken trimmed the lead down to three at 7-4 and kept it at single digits until a 6-0 spurt in the second period gave UNG a 38-24 lead.

Trailing by 15 at halftime, USC Aiken scored the first five points of the third quarter to bring it back to a 10 point margin, but UNG stormed away to lead by 18 after three. The Nighthawks started the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run that put the game away.

NOTES
- Caroline Martin finished with a game and season high 28 points on 9-for-14 shooting. Jamari McDavid scored 15 points, while Julianne Sutton added 13. Sutton's double-double streak came to an end as she was able to only pull down eight rebounds.

- Abbie Franklin nearly had an unconvential double-double after she was held scoreless. Franklin pulled down eight rebounds and dished out nine assists.

- North Georgia led the way in points in the paint, outscoring the Pacers 40-24.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will return home Wednesday for their first matchup of the season against Augusta. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Convocation Center.
