YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The University of North Georgia men's basketball team weathered the storm and pulled away in the second half to beat Young Harris, 88-70, in a Battle of Blood Mountain matchup Wednesday night.
Young Harris opened up with the momentum, jumping out to a 19-7 lead midway through the first half before the Nighthawk offense woke up, taking the lead for the first time at 30-29 with under a minute to play in the half before the Mountain Lions retook the lead into halftime.
The Nighthawks retook the lead quickly in the second half, but couldn't get a stranglehold on the advantage until a 9-0 run over a 1:04 period midway through the second half. The lead was shortly in double digits for the road team as UNG snapped the losing streak.

Kody Shubert put up 17.
Giancarlo Bastianoni added a career high 14 points with
Eric Jones contributing 12 more.
- UNG was a perfect 17-of-17 from the free throw line in the second half.
- The 18 point margin of victory marked the first time since the 2013-14 season that UNG defeated Young Harris by 10 or more points, winning back on February 5, 2014, by a 93-79 score in Memorial Hall.
