DAHLONEGA - The No. 22 University of North Georgia men's tennis team caught a victory against No. 13 Queens at home Tuesday, 4-3, at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
In doubles,
Zach Waldow and
Joaquin Benoit won their match on the second line, 6-4, followed by
Jared Bones and
Giulio Sassi winning their match by the same score on the third line.
In singles, Queens drew even with a win at No. 3 and took the lead with wins at No. 4 and No. 1, giving the Royals a 3-1 lead. UNG's Benoit won his match, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, at line No. 2. At line No. 5, Sassi won the first set, 7-5, followed by a clean 6-0 victory in the second set before Kevin Candido Magnusson finished off the comeback, winning 6-3, 6-0 at line No. 6.
The Nighthawks will play their next match against No. 1 Columbus State on Saturday for Senior Day. First serve is at 2 p.m.
