DAHLONEGA - The No. 12 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell to No. 1 Columbus State Sunday afternoon, 7-0.
The Cougars took all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, but it wasn't without resistance from North Georgia. On the top line,
Ryan Gaskin and Kevin Candido Magnusson took the second-ranked doubles team in the nation to a 6-4 match, while
Zach Waldow and
Joaquin Benoit also took their opponents to a 6-4 score on the second line.
In singles action, the top-ranked Cougars took all six matches, five of which in straight sets. Candido went to three sets in the sixth singles match, winning the first set, 7-6 (4) before falling in the match with 6-2, 10-7 sets.
The Nighthawks will be back in action Tuesday afternoon as they take on No. 6 Lander on the road.
