DAHLONEGA - The No. 22 University of North Georgia men's tennis team made quick work of Georgia College Monday afternoon, shutting out the Bobcats, 7-0, at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
Doubles play went quickly with all three duos for UNG easing to victory.
Ryan Gaskin and Kevin Candido took No. 1 while
Zach Waldow and
Joaquin Benoit won No. 2, both with 6-1 score lines.
Jared Bones and
Giulio Sassi finished off the sweep of doubles with a 6-3 win on the third line.
Singles went as quickly as Waldow took a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3, finishing shortly before Benoit's 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Gaskin's 6-0, 6-2 win on the top line clinched the match for North Georgia, but as the Nighthawks went after the sweep, Sassi took a 6-1, 6-4 win on the fourth line. Candido kept it going with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 5 before
Tim Kiehl finished the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6.
The Nighthawks are back in action tomorrow with a non-conference tilt against No. 16 Queens in Dahlonega at 12:30 p.m.
