VALDOSTA, Ga. - The No. 16 University of North Georgia women's tennis team suffered its first loss in nearly two years Saturday, falling to No. 6 West Florida, 5-2.
Annie Adams and
Anna Markvartova got off on the right foot on the No. 3 doubles line with a 6-2 win, but the Argonauts took the other two doubles matches to clinch the first point of the match.
From there, UWF clinched the match, winning at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 before the Nighthawks won a singles match as Markvartova won on the second line, 6-3, 6-3.
Johanna Lippert won on the sixth line to give UNG its second point in a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) match.
The Nighthawks will jump back into Peach Belt action Monday as they take on Georgia College in Dahlonega at 2 p.m.
