DAHLONEGA - The No. 16 University of North Georgia women's tennis team bounced back after Saturday's loss by defeating Georgia Southwestern, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
The Nighthawks eased through doubles as
Annie Adams and
Anna Markvartova took a 6-1 win at No. 2 to jump start the match.
Vaishali Jorge and
Johanna Lippert clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win on the top line before Rafaella Villanueva and
Svetlana Teterina swept the doubles matches with a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Singles went in much the same fashion as Adams started off with a 6-0, 6-1 win on the third line, followed very shortly by Claudelle Labonté Frey's same score at No. 4 to push UNG to a 3-0 lead overall. Jorge clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win on the top line as
Cibeles Zuddy and Villanueva finished nearly simultaneously to send UNG to a 6-0 lead. Teterina ended the match with a 7-6 (5), 6-0 win at No. 6.
North Georgia will be back in action at No. 14 Flagler in the final regular season match on Sunday at 10 a.m.
