YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The No. 22 University of North Georgia men's tennis team pitched their fourth consecutive shutout as they blanked Young Harris, 7-0, Friday afternoon.
The Nighthawks claimed the doubles point with wins by
Joaquin Benoit and
Zach Waldow at No. 2, 6-2, and
Ryan Gaskin and Kevin Candido, 6-3.
Gaskin quickly earned UNG's second point at the top singles line as he led, 5-1, in the first set before his opponent retired. Waldow pushed the lead out to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win shortly before Benoit clinched the match, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.
Giulio Sassi earned the fifth win for North Georgia with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4,
Daniel Ostap won, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 3 and
Federico Kuiper won a three-set match to finish off the shutout, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1.
North Georgia's next match is scheduled for April 3 against West Florida. First serve in Valdosta is set for 10 a.m.
