YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The No. 16 University of North Georgia women's tennis team made quick work of Young Harris Friday afternoon, winning 7-0 to claim their 15th straight win, dating back to the 2019-20 season.
The Nighthawks sped through doubles with
Svetlana Teterina and
Rafaella Jean Villanueva winning 6-0 on the third line,
Annie Adams and
Anna Markvartova winning 6-1 on the second line and
Vaishali Jorge and
Johanna Lippert winning 6-2 on the top line.
Lippert quickly put UNG up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win on the sixth line before Adams won by the same score on the fourth line. Markvartova clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3.
Cibeles Zuddy won her match at No. 2 shortly after, 6-3, 6-0. Claudelle Labonté Frey claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 before Jorge clinched the shutout with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1.
North Georgia will take on Brenau on Tuesday in Dahlonega with first serve set for 2 p.m.
