GREENWOOD, S.C. - The No. 15 University of North Georgia women's tennis team continued their winning ways with a 6-1 win in Peach Belt play over Lander Sunday.
The Nighthawks got off to a quick start, snatching the doubles point with a 6-1 win by
Cibeles Zuddy and Claudelle Labonté Frey on the second line and a 6-4 win on the top line by
Vaishali Jorge and
Johanna Lippert.
Labonté Frey pushed the lead out to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win on the No. 5 line before
Anna Markvartova won at No. 3, 6-4, 6-2, to push the lead to 3-0. Lippert clinched the match at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-0 win.
North Georgia also got wins from Jorge at No. 1 (6-0, 7-5) and
Annie Adams (6-4, 7-5).
The Nighthawks will head out of league play with a Thursday match at Emmanuel.
