VALDOSTA, Ga. - In top 25 action Sunday, the No. 23 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell at the hands of No. 15 Valdosta State, 4-1, Sunday afternoon.
The Blazers jumped out quickly in doubles to get a 6-4 win on the top line before
Zach Waldow and Joaquin Benoit knotted it up, forcing the doubles point to be decided on the third line in a tiebreak. The VSU tandem of Christian Wedel and Cameron Trigolos took the point in a 7-6 (11) tiebreak to claim the 1-0 lead.
The Blazers got the first singles point before UNG's Giulio Sassi claimed the first point of the day for the Nighthawks at the No. 5 line in 6-4, 6-1 fashion. From there, Valdosta State put the match away with a straight set win on the top line before a comeback three-set win at No. 4.
UNG will look to get into the win column on Saturday when they take on Auburn Montgomery in DeKalb, Georgia. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
