ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The University of North Georgia men's basketball team dropped its Peach Belt road opener Friday to Flagler, 74-68.
The Nighthawks jumped out to a seven point lead just six minutes into the contest before the preseason No. 2 team in the nation answered by taking a five point lead into halftime, 41-36.
The Saints extended their lead out to as many as 13, but North Georgia kept clawing back, cutting the lead to five twice in the last minute before falling by the final six point margin.
NOTES
- Three Nighthawks finished in double figures, led by a game high 18 points from
Frank Champion.
Greg Billups, Jr. had 14 points, while
Kody Shubert added 12.
- Flagler hit 10-of-21 three pointers. North Georgia was 6-of-13.
- The Saints had 11 steals, scoring 19 points off turnovers.
