MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of North Georgia men's basketball team pulled away midway through the first half to defeat AUM Tuesday night, 71-61.
Trailing 9-8 at the 12:15 mark in the first half, North Georgia went on a 12-3 run to take the lead for good. UNG led by as many as nine in the first half before taking a 39-32 lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, North Georgia continued to stretch their lead out, using a 10-0 run near the midway portion of the second half to take a 20 point lead, 69-49. AUM tried to fight back over the final six minutes, finishing on a 12-2 run, but North Georgia had enough of a lead to hang on.

Kody Shubert led all Nighthawk scorers with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor.
Frank Champion added 11, while
Greg Billups, Jr. and
Eric Jones each had 10. Jones finished with a double-double with a game-high 10 boards.
