AUGUSTA, Ga. - The University of North Georgia's Bailey Manson and Haylee Black were named the 2020 winners of the Dissinger Reed Athletic Training Graduate Scholarships by the Peach Belt Conference, the league announced Friday afternoon. This is the sixth year that Dissinger Reed has provided financial support to PBC athletic trainers to continue graduate studies.
A native of Cumming, Georgia, Manson is currently pursuing her masters of science in athletic training at North Georgia. She also received her undergraduate degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sports medicine from UNG in 2019. She served internships at Forsyth Central High School last fall and Chestatee High School this spring. She graduated cum laude from UNG and was a member of the Nighthawks' cheer squad. A member of the Omega Greek Honor Society, she has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and also serves as the spirit squad coordinator and cheer coach at UNG.
Black received her undergraduate degree from Winthrop University in 2019 and is currently pursuing her masters in kinesiology at UNG while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Young Harris College. From Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Black worked with the women's soccer and softball teams at YHC this past year and also serves as a varsity camp first aid responder. A member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Epsilon Kappa academic fraternities, she has also received the Order of Omega and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).
