BELMONT, N.C. - A 7-6 tiebreak in the deciding match of doubles gave the No. 10 University of North Georgia women's tennis team the momentum needed to claim a 6-1 win over Belmont Abbey Saturday.
Adrienne Bofinger and
Anna Markvartova took the No. 3 doubles line in the 7-6 (8-6) tiebreak to clinch the doubles point. In singles, it was all UNG with the Nighthawks winning their five matches in straight sets.
Cibeles Zuddy won her match to push the match to 2-0 by a 6-1, 6-1 scoreline, finishing shortly before
Vaishali Jorge at No. 2 (6-0, 6-4) and Bofinger on the top line (6-1, 6-3). Markvartova and
Laura Van Der Hage also earned wins in their matches.
North Georgia will open up Peach Belt play Monday afternoon at Augusta with first serve set for 1 p.m.
