AUGUSTA - The No. 10 University of North Georgia women's tennis team fought through doubles to earn the point before sweeping singles on the way to a 7-0 Peach Belt Conference opening win over Augusta Monday.
The Nighthawks went 2-1 in doubles play, winning at No. 3 with
Adrienne Bofinger and
Anna Marie Moller, 6-4, to claim the point.
Vaishali Jorge and
Annie Adams won quickly on the top line, 6-2.
From there, it was all North Georgia, sweeping through singles starting with Bofinger's 6-1, 6-0 win on the top singles line. Jorge followed quickly behind with a 6-1, 6-2 win on No. 2 before the match was clinched with a win at No. 5 by Adams, 6-3, 6-1.
The Nighthawks will look to stretch the winning streak to eight when they head to Georgia College Wednesday at 1 p.m.
