MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 10 University of North Georgia women's tennis team improved to 8-0 on the year and 2-0 in Peach Belt play with a 7-0 shutout of Georgia College Wednesday afternoon.
The Nighthawks cruised through doubles with a 6-0 win at No. 3 by Rafaella Villanueva and
Anna Markvartova, followed closely behind by a 6-2 win at No. 1 by
Vaishali Jorge and
Annie Adams.
Singles play went much the same as five singles matches finished in straight sets for North Georgia. Jorge finished first with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 before Markvartova clinched her match with identical 6-1 sets.
Adrienne Bofinger clinched the match for UNG with a 6-2, 6-3 win on the top line.
Adams won the only three set match, winning 6-4, 0-6, 1-0 (10-3).
UNG will be back in action on Sunday as they travel to Columbus State to battle Wingate. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
