GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Mark Laishley finished the match with a three-set win on the No. 5 line as the No. 24 University of North Georgia men's tennis team went to Tusculum and took a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon.
The Nighthawks got started on the right foot by claiming the doubles point with wins on the top and third lines while the match at No. 2 was tied 5-5 when North Georgia clinched the point.
The Pioneers tied the match up by claiming the first singles point at No. 3, but North Georgia answered shortly thereafter with Kevin Candido winning 6-2, 7-5 at No. 6.
Ryan Gaskin gave UNG a 3-1 lead with a 6-3, 7-6 (1) win on the top line, but Tusculum stayed alive with a win at No. 2. Laishley claimed the final point, coming from a set down to win in three, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
North Georgia will jump into PBC action on Wednesday when they travel to Georgia College for a 2 p.m. match.
