No. 18 Men's Tennis Falls in Season Opener at No. 23 Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Despite winning the doubles point, the No. 18 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell in a top-25 matchup to No. 23 Queens, 5-2, Sunday afternoon.

The doubles duos of Kevin Candido and Ryan Gaskin as well as Zack Waldow and Paul Pahun got the Nighthawks started strong with 6-2 and 6-3 wins, respectively, to clinch the opening point.

From there, the Royals took over, winning four matches right off the cusp, three of which came in straight sets to take a 3-1 lead. The match was won when Edoardo Cecere won at No. 5 singles after dropping the second set.

UNG's lone singles winner was Daniel Ostap who, after losing the opening set 6-4, won the second and third sets by 6-2 lines.

The Nighthawks are back on the courts on February 12 at Belmont Abbey.
