DAHLONEGA - Tom Cantrell won his 900th game as a head coach as the No. 20 University of North Georgia baseball team shut out Claflin in the Peach Belt Conference opener, 4-0, Friday evening at Bob Stein Stadium at Cottrell Park.
The Nighthawks got on the board in the third inning as
Jake Arnold tripled in his first at-bat of the day and scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. North Georgia added to its lead in the sixth, using three doubles in the inning to plate two runs and push the lead to 3-0.
UNG pushed one more run across in the seventh as Arnold came across on a
Tim Conway single that brought the game to its final score.

Cade Heil (2-0) pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 11 while surrendering just four hits.
- Arnold went 3-for-4 at the plate, coming up just a homer away from the cycle and scoring twice.
Will Hardigree went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI.
- Cantrell won 177 games at DeKalb College prior to coming to North Georgia, where he has since won 723 games.
