DAHLONEGA - The No. 16 University of North Georgia softball team shut down the competition Saturday in the Cottrell Foundation Loyal Blue Classic as they held both Gannon and No. 21 Southern Indiana scoreless in a Saturday sweep.
GAME ONE - #16 UNG 4, Gannon 0
Kaylyn Anthony got UNG on the board first against the Knights, using a RBI double in the third to plate
Janie Henderson and put the Nighthawks up, 1-0.
In the fourth, the offense came alive again, plating three runs for the hosts.
Kaylee Womack started things off with a RBI double that scored
Margaret Simmons. Two batters later,
Madison Simmons hit a sacrifice fly to deep right field that brought home Womack. Anthony would then triple to bring
Cheyanne Mosteller home and bring the game to its final score.
Laken Chambers (2-0) earned the win, going the full seven and giving up just two hits while fanning two. She threw just 73 pitches.
GAME TWO - #16 UNG 5, #21 USI 0
In a rematch of the 2018 NCAA Division II Championship opening round game featuring the same two pitchers, it was

Jenna Goodrich, the next batter, then singled to right to plate
Devin Lanham and put the Nighthawks up, 2-0.
