COLUMBUS, Ga. - Trailing by five with just over five minutes to play, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team clamped down defensively, allowing them to finish the game on a 15-2 run to defeat Columbus State, 73-66, Wednesday night.
The Cougars and Nighthawks went back-and-forth in a low scoring first half. Columbus State took the advantage into halftime after going on a 10-0 run late in the period.
Columbus State stretched their lead to 11 points three times during the second half, but UNG hung around and pulled the game back to a six-point deficit with over nine minutes to play. The Nighthawks continued to chip away before finishing on a 15-2 run to clinch the Peach Belt win.
NOTES
- North Georgia has now swept the regular season series with Columbus State for the second time in three years, accomplishing the feat in the 2017-18 season.
- Five Nighthawks finished the day in double figures, led by 
KJ Jenkins with 13 points. He coupled that with 11 rebounds to earn his first collegiate double-double.

Zach Brown and 
Zez Steeple each put up 12 points, while 
Bailey Minor added 11.
- The Nighthawks shot nearly 55 percent from the floor while holding CSU to just 35 percent.
