ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 22 University of North Georgia women's golf team improved 16 shots from the first to the final round as the Nighthawks wrapped up play in the World Golf Invitational Tuesday.
Megan Sabol was the top finisher for North Georgia, finishing in a tie for 22nd overall. Lexi Whitney was the low scorer in the final round for UNG, firing a 3-over 75 to jump up to a tie for 30th overall.
As a team, North Georgia finished in a tie for 12th with Queens. No. 2 Nova Southeastern won the tournament by 11 shots over No. 7 Rollins. No. 10 Florida Southern finished in third, followed by No. 6 Tampa and SCAD - Savannah to round out the top five.
By beating Young Harris in the standings, North Georgia clinches the women's golf point in the Battle of Blood Mountain as well.
UNG will return to the links on March 9-10 at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational, hosted by Rollins.
