DAHLONEGA - The runs came early and often as the No. 20 University of North Georgia baseball team scored 13 runs in the first four innings on their way to a 14-2 win over Auburn Montgomery Saturday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium at Cottrell Park.
The scoring started with a four-run first inning, coming off a
Will Hardigree RBI single right before a
William Mapes RBI double. After
Cole Yancey hit a sacrifice fly to score the final run of the first, North Georgia added four more in the second, highlighted by
Bill LeRoy's two-RBI single to center.
LeRoy got two more RBI in the third inning on a double to left field that plated
Andres Perez and
Tim Conway, extending the lead to 10-0. AUM finally scratched the scoreboard in the top of the fourth, plating an unearned run, but the Nighthawks answered with a three-run fourth, scoring on back-to-back RBI singles by
Crews Taylor and Conway.
North Georgia added one more on a Perez moonshot that cleared the left field wall in the seventh before the Warhawks got one more run in the eighth.
