Men's Basketball Falls in Exhibition Action at Mercer

MACON, Ga. - Three University of North Georgia men's basketball players finished in double figures as the Nighthawks fell in an exhibition matchup at Mercer Wednesday, 79-48.

The Nighthawks led early in the game on the back of Zach Brown scoring six of the first eight for UNG, extending the lead out to as many as four in the opening minutes of the game. The Bears would jump out in front but couldn't get further than nine points ahead in the first half.

Mercer took control in the second half, however, going on a 13-0 run early in the half to put a 20-point cushion in place and cruise to the win.

NOTES
- Brown and Darnell Snyers led UNG with 12 points each. Brown was 5-for-7 from the floor with six boards, two steals and a block in just 21 minutes of action. Eric Jones also finished with double digit points with 10.

- The Nighthawks shot 31 percent from the floor while the Bears shot 50 percent in the season opener.

NEXT UP
The next scheduled matchup for UNG is January 6 as the Nighthawks open Peach Belt play at home against Flagler.
