CALERA, Ala. - Alexis Whitney shot a personal-best 71 in the final round to jump 10 spots into the runner up spot as the University of North Georgia women's golf team completed play in the Full Moon BBQ Invitational, hosted by Montevallo, Tuesday in a tie for second place with a 612 final score.

Whitney fired birdies on the 13th and 16th holes to pace her round, improving five shots from Monday's round to finish at five over par. Megan Sabol also earned a top-10 finish, ending up in a tie for third at 8-over 149.

Montevallo won the tournament as a team, shooting a 595 over the two days. West Florida finished tied with UNG in the tournament for second, while West Georgia and Shorter rounded out the top five.

UM's Alexis Berger won the tournament individually, defeating Whitney by three shots.

The Nighthawks will next be in action at the DBU Classic September 23-24 at Robson Ranch Golf Course in Denton, Texas.
