Softball Announces Fall Schedule For 2019

DAHLONEGA - After winning their sixth consecutive Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championships, the University of North Georgia softball team and head coach Mike Davenport have announced the Fall 2019 schedule of games, including two dates at home in Dahlonega.

The Nighthawks will kick off the fall slate with a 10-12 inning game on the road at Furman on September 29. Last season, the Paladins went 13-38 in a tough Southern Conference, taking on multiple Power 5 teams throughout the season, including Auburn, South Carolina and Arkansas.

UNG will finish the fall schedule with home games, starting with a doubleheader on October 4 against Truett McConnell. The Bears won their second straight Appalachian Athletic Conference regular season championship last season, going 42-11 and advancing to the NAIA Opening Round for a second year in a row. The Bears lost two 1-0 games in the postseason.

On the final day of the fall season, the Nighthawks will host Georgia Military and Clemson on October 20, starting with an 11 a.m. start between UNG and GMC. The Bulldogs went 44-15 a year ago, falling in the GCAA Championship game. After Georgia Military and Clemson do battle at 1 p.m., the 2019 Nighthawks will take the field for their Peach Belt Conference championship ring ceremony. UNG and Clemson will then play at 3 p.m. to end the day. The Tigers will be entering their first season in 2020.
