COLUMBUS, Ga. - An eighth inning homer by Grant Berry gave Columbus State the lead as they went on to defeat the No. 24 University of North Georgia baseball team, 5-4, Saturday afternoon.
CSU took an early lead on a Robert Brooks solo homer in the second inning, but North Georgia took the lead in the sixth, putting up four runs along the way. The scoring started with RBI doubles from
Bill LeRoy and
William Mapes. Up 2-1, the Nighthawks kept it going with a
Jake Howard sacrifice fly that scored
Nick Clarno before an infield single by
Conner Corbitt.
The Cougars got a run back in the sixth with a Brooks sacrifice fly before the three-run blast by Berry in the eighth gave Columbus State the one-run advantage.

Derrick Pickvet got a no decision, scattering two runs and four hits across seven innings, striking out eight without issuing a walk.
