DAHLONEGA - The No. 14 University of North Georgia men's tennis team moved to 5-2 in PBC conference play this year following a routine 7-0 sweep against Georgia Southwestern Sunday.
On a day which saw all seniors honored, UNG took care of business in style, winning all matches available.
Niklas Zielen,
Hugues Renaud and
Jess Jones are the three seniors on the team and all saw doubles victory with Zielen and Jones winning at No. 1 doubles, while Renaud partnered with sophomore
Ryan Gaskin in an easy 6-0 win.
All three seniors also won at singles, occupying the top three spots in the lineup. Zielen and Renaud both won easily in straight sets. Jones followed suit, winning 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles spot. Freshman
Federico Kuiper earned his first start since February and won 6-3, 6-1 in an impressive performance.
Mark Laishley and Kevin Candido were the other singles winners, also winning comfortably.
Now 15-4 on the season with two matches remaining, the Nighthawks next travel to USC Aiken in an important PBC conference match-\up. The match is scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m.
